Piano Lessons for Beginners
If you are new to piano, you will start with learning simple tunes and technical exercise to get your fingers and your mind moving. You will also learn to read music and begin to understand the building blocks of music theory. All piano lessons are one on one with Jared. He will help you set some goals and come up with a practice routine to help you get there.

Piano Lessons for Kids
Teaching piano to children requires patience, persistence and encouragement. Jared teaches primary and secondary school aged children using a simple reward and recognition system. This helps younger children stay motivated with a practice routine. It is important parents share in their child’s musical journey by encouraging and rewarding progress. Parents are welcome to sit in with their child in the lesson.
Jared teaches music at Healesville Primary School and has taught at Eltham High School and Doncaster Secondary School. He also has a working with children check.
Adult Piano Lessons
Adult music students may be beginners or already have some playing experience. Jared will help you set goals and talk about the music you would love to play. He will also show you musical pieces that help develop your technique and understanding of what you are playing.
Adult piano lessons can also be centred around jazz or improvisation for more advanced students.
You can also choose to learn piano for fun and choose popular songs you’d like to learn.
AMEB Piano Lessons and Piano for Leisure
AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) piano lessons take a structured approach to prepare a student for a graded music examination. This usually involves performing musical pieces from a set selection, and testing music theory and aural ability. Knowledge of the music being performed is also tested.
Jared teaches AMEB piano grades and piano for leisure to a high level and can prepare you for both examinations.
VCE Music lessons
Jared also teaches VCE Music performance units 1-4. He can work with you and your school music teacher to improve your performance skills, music theory and technical ability.

Jared Becker Music operates from a spacious music studio in Montmorency, near Eltham. It has a high quality Yamaha upright piano. Jared also has a Nord 6HP keyboard for those interested in exploring different sounds in their playing.
The music studio is a welcoming environment for parents and students, with comfortable couches and tea and coffee.
